Armed and Dangerous

Our son received a gift card to Target a week before Christmas and begged us to take him to Target a few times each day until we finally finished our holiday travels and found a chance to take him on New Year's Day.  I guess I should have taken the boy to Target instead of Jeff because my veteran husband, who would love to see his son follow his collegiate footsteps into the US Naval Academy, allowed our son to purchase the Ultimate Berserker with his gift card.

This gun will shoot 20 rounds of small Nerf bullets followed by one large Nerf light-up rocket all in one magazine.  The large rocket looks like a fire ball flying through the air.
On the 2-3 mornings each week in which I get to sleep in, I let the kids wake me up instead of using an alarm clock.  Sometimes I'll leave a sign on my door listing the chores the children must complete before attempting to wake me.  Oh how I love these mornings!

Ever since our son was 10 months old, he would wake me up by walking into the master bedroom, climbing with all his might to push his little body up onto the bed, and giving me big bear hugs until I would awaken into his sweet embrace.  Those loving hugs are SO much better than any kind of alarm clock.

This month, however, he has developed a new approach. It looks a lot like this:
Did you see the fire ball? Being fired upon with a Berserker isn't quite as appreciated as his previous wake-up approach, nor is it as effective.  I never even knew I had been his target until I woke up an hour later and found myself in a pool of Nerf bullets.

I miss his hugs in the morning, but I still get them throughout the day.
I'll take his Nerf bullets over an alarm clock anyday!

  1. Reece got a nerf gun from his Aunt and they love shooting at the sliding door where they stick. That particular sliding door is in our kitchen and I never thought I'd have to say: "Kids I would just like to make dinner, for you all, and NOT get shot at." :)

I guess next time you'll take him to Target?? :)
