Teaching PE

Since the kids came along, I have worn a wide variety of "hats" I never imagined I would wear during my ambitious engineering career days.  One especially enjoyable role I have had over the past two years is PE teacher to 30+  homeschooled students between the ages of 3 and 10.

Each year concludes with a big field day for all the students in the program.  Coach Sports (as the kids call me) is responsible for organizing and facilitating Field Day each spring.  Approximately 75-80 students compete each year. Usually, the students' families come to watch and many of them volunteer, so may have over 200 people cheering, participating or serving.  I really enjoy watching the students compete and demonstrate skills we have honed during class over the past 6-7 months.  Here are some photos from this year's field day.

Field Day fell on my 40th birthday this year, so they embarrassed me with a song during the awards presentation.  I am so thankful to all the volunteers who made this event possible.
