Stop Hunger Now

Every year, students at our school raise money to buy meal ingredients for the poor.  Then on a designated day each year, they pack all the meals.  The school has sent over half a million meals thus far.  Last year, our kids went door-to-door meeting our new neighbors and raised approximately $250.  This year, our daughter went all by herself to the neighboring community and raised a lot more than we expected. Students rotated shifts all day, but I came during my daughter's shift which coincided with my senior students' shift.  Here are some photos.

That last photo inspired me to write this little poem.

They solve stats problems with confident ease.
They think shooting 3-pointers is a breeze.

They catch every bag of food that's thrown.
They are reaping the harvest of faith well sown.

They stole my heart, though I tried to resist.
But work them I will, for they must persist.

School's not over; there's more to be learned.
A's are not given; they must be earned.
