2015 Christmas Celebration #1 - Hovercraft & Playground Fun

We hosted family here last weekend for the first of a series of family Christmas gatherings.  It had been 14 months since we last saw them, but it had only seemed a short time.  Time flies when life gets so busy.  The house was decorated, and I tried to prepare a traditional Christmas (albeit meager for such a small crowd) and she brought red and green cake for dessert, but with the outside temperature in the mid 70s, it felt like spring. I would gladly welcome Christmas in the 70s every year, for cold weather is not good for my skin or my mental health.
After the meal and opening gifts, we went to the kids' school.  My teacher's assistant's son was sick when we did the human hovercraft activity the previous week and our son never got to ride as he kept deferring to others (sweet, sweet, boy), so I got permission to use the basketball court on Saturday for a hovercraft make-up session.

This kid is precious.  His dear parents spent many weeks in the Ukraine going through the process to adopt him.  He has a lot of challenges, but his smile sure does light up a room, and the difference his parents and new his new found faith in Christ especially have made in him is overwhelming.

Our boy's turn...at last!

The hovering mothers took a ride as well.

After hovering, some of us relaxed on the swings, and them my daughter and I got in an upper body workout on playground equipment.  I love that she enjoys active exercise with me instead of prissy, girlie activities, though I trust she will not be a tomboy forever.
