After taking a leisure walk through the port town and doing some shopping, we hopped into a van and rode across the island to the western coast. From there, we boarded a catamaran and took a 35 minute boat ride through the perfectly clear aqua blue water to "Stingray Bay". The water was so still and the sand so white that our underwater photos looked as if we were inside a swimming pool.
Our guide encouraged us to touch the stingrays and claimed that they feel like mushrooms. I thought they felt more like eels or slugs and did not dare kiss them as the guide commanded. He wrapped the stingray around our backs like a stole, but I much prefer to have a cashmere scarf around my neck and shoulders, thank you very much.
After swimming with the stingrays, we hopped back on the boat and journeyed to two different snorkeling sites around some beautiful coral reef.
A photographer with VIP Productions snorkeled with us and took many of these photos.
We thoroughly enjoyed this little tropical paradise.
