One Thousand Gifts (Part 2): Let it Snow!

Reference Part 1 of this series for an explanation of why I am compiling a list of 1000 gifts.

12.  Unexpected snowfall immediately following a beautiful sunny day with temperatures in the upper 60s

13.  Long morning shadows on white glistening snow

14.  Piling snowflakes on sturdy green leaves

15.  Rolling snow into snow balls

16. Lonely snow people who find friends.

 17.  Children who bundle themselves up to play in the snow
He thought he needed 2 hats, 2 jackets, and 6 pairs of socks!

18.  Shoes that are too big for our son to wear now but fit perfectly when he's wearing 6 pairs of socks in the snow

19.  Bright morning sun lighting up a blue winter sky

20.  God's word which communicates love far better than any box or bag of conversation hearts

 21.  Living in a part of the world where all four seasons, with their many contrasts, may be experienced and enjoyed without any season being too extreme or unbearable

22.  Young hands with new art supplies anticipating springtime

23.  Those same young hands illustrating this weekend's snowfall

From my left brained perspective, the snow and trees look like emissions from the towers of a coal fired power plant before scrubbers were added following the Clean Air Act.  Had I known this drawing was underway, I would have provided darker colored paper and white paint, but I'm glad I didn't so that I could find more amusement from the painting.

24. Our son's refusal to believe that Mom and Dad are growing older

As the snow was falling yesterday, he saw white specks in his father's hair and said, "Daddy, you have snow in your hair!"  When my husband insisted that what our son saw was gray hair, not snow, he exclaimed, "No, Daddy, no!  You aren't old!"

25.  On-line church streaming when the roads are too icy to drive across town to our church

26.  A cute bundled girl at the door with a bowl of snow, grass, and leaves

27.  That same girl's efforts to go back out and collect a big bowl of clean snow

28.  Big bowls of snow cream that put smiles on my kids' faces

 29.  A sprinkling of fruit to add a splash of color and excitement to fresh snow cream

 30.  A drop of snow cream on the tip of the center berry forming the shape of a star.

31.  One of the region's best UPWARD basketball programs offered so close to our suburb home which is attracting unchurched families for whom I've been praying

32My husband's desire to please me in ways that speak to my heart

Knowing my love of all things chocolate and gluten free, he made low fat, flourless (GF) double chocolate cookies from scratch as a surprise for me on Valentine's Day. Each cookie was over 5" in diameter, and they were all gone by Saturday.

33.  My husband's willingness, rooted in love, to spend quality time having fun with the kids

Last weekend he took them to the circus where they fit in well with the circus monkeys and clowns!

34. My husband's homemade waffles, pancakes or other unhealthy breakfast treat on Saturday mornings
35.  Those rare Sundays when I actually find time to read the newspaper comics

36. The privilege of being a deacon's wife so I get to hear powerful heart-warming testimonies, see faces radiate with the light of Christ as people of all ages share about Christ's love, watch baptisms up close, and be one of the first to hug those who are baptized after they exit the water
