Family Evacuation: The Rest of the Story

After our evacuated family had rested and been fed, Grandma and Grandpa decided to head toward Memphis with the youngest grandchild (of the seven there) since his parents were missing him terribly.  We took the traditional group pics of everyone in their new beach T-shirts, and then they hit the road once again.
My husband's brother and his wife plus the four kids joined our family of four at Marbles Kids Museum. It was crowded with it being a rainy day and $2 admission hours, but we started from the back and worked our way to the front which helped us avoid the more crowded areas.  The kids could have spent all day in every room, and there are lots of rooms including a new power generation room I had not seen before.  My last full time job was in the power industry with an emphasis on renewable energy and demand side management, so that hands-on exhibit was by far my favorite.

Watching Uncle Mark design clothing for his paper doll after building a really fast car was perhaps the most amusing part of the day for me.  Mark is so talented from one spectrum to the other.  And seeing my husband in the kids' submarine made me giggle as well.  While I'm thankful for his service to our country, I'm glad to have him home serving as Officer-of the-Deck at our home and at the Children's Museum's submarine than off on dangerous 6-month deployments.

After a fun night of relaxing, eating lasagna and cheesecake, and watching the bunny's acrobatics, we all enjoyed a restful evening.  They left early the next morning for more fun adventures while we adjusted to only having the four of us in our house again.  It took me all the following week to finish laundering all the sheets and towels, but I would do it all again in a heartbeat to have family so near.
