I want to give a big shout out to my parents for sitting through a long 3-4 hour gymnastics meet to watch their granddaughter compete for a combined total of about 2 minutes for four events. Our daughter was suffering from jumper's knee at this meet so she had to cut her favorite tumbling run from her floor routine, and by the time she got to her 4th event, the vault, she was in so much pain she hobbled down the runway.
She did not score as many points as she usually does, but given the amount of pain she was suffering from her injury we could not be more proud of her for her effort. She still took home 2nd place on the beam, 4th place on the bars, and two other medals as well. She's been learning a lot this year that injuries come at the worst times, and one just has to make the most of what she has at the time. Having her grandparents there to cheer her on through her trials surely made the event more enjoyable for her. (Gift #944)
