Snow Days 2 & 3

So all the sledding action was fun while it lasted, but our dare devil kids ended up injured. Our son hurt his hand a little, and our daughter smashed into a mailbox injuring the same foot she hurt a few months ago in gymnastics and knocking her out of another gymnastics meet we just paid $200 (non-refundable) to attend. The first set of x-rays showed that it was not broken, but the goose egg on her foot is quite large, and she is still in a lot of pain, so the doctor told us to come back for more x-rays later since the break doesn't always show up on x-rays until 3 or more days later.  Do what?  Several friends confirmed that was the case.  Anyway, she's enjoying all the attention on her crutches, but we stayed out of the snow and ice for the last 2 out of 3 days in which school was cancelled due to dangerous driving conditions.

For those who have thoughtfully asked us how our injured daughter is doing following last week's sledding accident, she's still on crutches, but she is in good hands as our in-house RN, Miss Muffin, is diligently keeping watch over her until she fully mends.  I love the way Muffin keeps us all smiling. (Gift #959)

I think our bunny sensed how cold it was outside even though she stays inside because I've never seen her more excited than when I pulled a pile of soft, warm, fleece sheets fresh out of the dryer.  They were like bunny heaven to her.

I have joined a local buy/sell/trade group on Facebook where members post items for sale with a note describing it and listing the price.  So I had to laugh when one of the members posted this ad (as a joke) during our snow days.

Our new school is wonderful in a lot of ways, but our kids don't love it like they did their last school which was easy, all fun and games, and did not require uniforms.  At that school, the kids would cry whenever there was a break or teacher workday because they looked forward to school so much each day.

The first day schools were cancelled this week due to snow, the kids' cries of excitement possibly exceeded even those that followed our announcement years ago that we were going to Disney World. By day 3, however, when I told them school was closed again, they tried to stifle moans and groans, for as much as they may deny it, they were looking forward to returning to school. Now maybe they'll believe me the next time I say, "Too much of a good thing is not a good thing."

Since snow days insist on some snuggling by the fire with one's beloved to keep war\, I overheard the following conversation during one of our snowy evenings:

Hubby (to the kids):          Please come downstairs and turn off the lights and turn on the fire.
8-year-old (to his sister):  Why doesn't Dad want the lights on anymore?
10-year-old:                    Because he wants to make it more romantic down here
8-year-old:                     Then let's light some candles for Mom & Dad, too.

Look out lovely ladies, our little lad is learning!
