One of the best gifts to me this year has been our mother/daughter Bible study group. We're using the Princess' Kiss Bible study to lead us through this two-year program of helping equip our daughters with wisdom and accountability as they celebrate the transition from child to adolescent. I am thoroughly enjoying this opportunity to get to know the other mothers at our school better and for the opportunity to sharpen one another as iron sharpens iron. (Gift #942) And of course the girls have a blast giggling, playing, and bonding with one another.
We recently took the girls to Camp Agape for a weekend retreat. We covered three lessons and did lots of crafts, encouragement activities, praying, eating, and Bible studying. My prayer is that God used the weekend to strengthen my relationship with my daughter. A 16-year-old daughter from our school came and shared with the girls about boys and dating. Even though the teachers did a phenomenal job using vivid object lessons to root precepts in the girls' hearts, my daughter said that what the teenager said impacted her most. Whether Carolyn realizes it or not, she is not a role model for those girls at our school and now has 9 more little sets of eyes and ears to keep her accountable. The weekend was a gift to us in so many different ways. (Gift #943)
Here are a few pictures from our weekend together.
