Girls' Evening Out at the Farm

While the boys were at camp, my daughter and I joined some school friends at a nearby farm owned and operated by a family from our school.  She especially enjoyed the horseback ride around the farm and pond, and I was glad to get in our annual hayride.

We got through half of the corn maze (which had a cool design honoring our hometown heroes) before hunger and weariness overtook us.  My daughter and I took turns throwing the enormous hammer/ax, and she got the disk almost as high as I did, despite her tiny frame and all my weight lifting efforts.  We picked out pumpkins before leaving having enjoyed a beautiful day at the farm, which was surrounded by condos and apartment buildings, right off a busy highway, providing a most interesting juxtaposition.
