Sunday Afternoon Nap

My husband and I attempted to lock ourselves in our room for a Sunday afternoon nap knowing full well that it would be impossible with two young kids in the house. It was amusing to listen to them use various persuasive approaches during that brief interval: 

1. Force: They tried to beat the door down.
2. Reasoning: When my husband said, "What if we escaped through the window?", they gave several logical reasons why that could not happen such as "but you don't have a rope ladder!"  They also argued that had we jumped out of the window they would have heard me scream.
3. Bribery/Temptation: They tried to convince their dad that they had a pizza and cheesecake waiting for him in the hallway.
4. Fear: They insisted that there was a mouse in the house coming to get me.

And to think some politicians go through graduate school to "learn" these persuasive techniques that kids are already applying at age five.
