- Force: They tried to beat the door down.
- Reasoning: When my husband said, "What if we escaped through the window?", they gave several logical reasons why that could not happen such as "but you don't have a rope ladder!" They also argued that had we jumped out of the window they would have heard me scream.
- Bribery/Temptation: They tried to convince their dad that they had a pizza and cheesecake waiting for him in the hallway.
- Fear: They insisted that there was a mouse in the house coming to get me.
And to think some politicians go through graduate school to "learn" these persuasive
techniques that kids are already applying at age five.
