Background
This week has been and continues to be one of the busiest weeks I can remember having in a long time. I have had lots of projects to complete, sick family members, physical therapy appointments, a kitchen remodel in progress, and so much more. Yesterday, shortly after our plumber left, I was preparing the children some lunch in our new kitchen that was finally in functioning condition. The kids love our new granite counter tops! The chorus, "On Christ the solid rock I stand" was running through my head as they admired the new kitchen.
Good News
Out of the blue, our son looked up at me and told me that he wanted to ask Jesus into his heart. "What?" I asked. He said it again. So, I dropped everything, and we went into the living room to discuss what that means. He's only 4 years old, so how much can he really understand? He certainly had the right answers for all my questions. I remembered having a similar conversation with our daughter at that same age. I was skeptical then, but she and I prayed the sinner's prayer together, and she seemed as sincere as a 4 year old could be. Her life did begin to change although there were days when I may have questioned. (Of course, even now after I've been walking with the Lord for 30 years, there are times when I'm sure some people question me.) So, I led my son in a simple prayer, and he prayed with such sweet sincerity. We celebrated, and he began telling others that evening about the commitment he had made.
Romans 10:9
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Our day took a turn for the worse later than afternoon. The street our daughter's piano teacher lives on was closed so we had to park a block away, and the kids and I had to run to get to her lesson on time. Next, we got stuck in traffic and were late for AWANA. Then our son jammed his finger in the car door. The kids kept bickering and whining that evening, and my nerves were shot. The fact that we seemed to be experiencing so much spiritual warfare immediately after our son's profession of faith tells me that he was sincere enough to make the enemy angry.
Today I reviewed with him some of what we had discussed yesterday.
I apologize for the lousy video quality. Our nicer camera wasn't working properly today.
Luke 18:16
But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
