Homeschooling little ones does not come easy for me. At first, I really struggled to present information at my children's level. I began this journey having no
ability interest in crafts or silly games. Through the process of homeschooling, however, my eyes have been opened. I have enjoyed discovering the world again through the perspective of a small child. I've found my long lost sillies and have treasured all the learning we have done together. However, some days, I wish the kids could express interest and understanding in some of the subjects I most enjoy.
This past week, we turned a corner by introducing a subject that is more my style. Our daughter spent a week studying electricity and magnetism with other homeschooling students. We tried to pass some of that knowledge down to her brother. The hands-on-activities (a sampling of which are pictured below) were so much fun for the children. My sanguine daughter surprised me with her detailed drawings of various series and parallel circuit designs in her science journal. I knew the science class did not change her too much, however, when I saw the page entitled "Daily Journal Entries" where she was supposed to write down her favorite key points learned each day. On this page, she wrote down the names of all the new friends she made and drew stick figures to represent each one. She's still a social girl!
